Trueo moves from Base to Ethereum with Buterin endorsement
Trueo is moving its primary deployment from Base to Ethereum mainnet, with co-founder Vitalik Buterin endorsing the move as ethical and decentralized.
Trueo announced on Sept. 22 that it will move its primary deployment from Base to Ethereum mainnet, roughly 18 months after launching on Base in March 2025. The Block reported that users are being encouraged not to open new Base markets expiring after Jan. 31, 2027.
From the Sept. 22 announcement to Jan. 31, 2027, there are 131 calendar days — eight remaining days in September, then October’s 31, November’s 30, December’s 31, and January’s 31. The announcement does not specify when the Ethereum migration will actually be completed.
TRUE holders face a different timeline. The Block reported that the migration window for TRUE holders will remain open indefinitely, with TRUE continuing as the protocol’s native token.
The protocol currently ranks 14th among onchain prediction markets, with $795,687 in total value locked, according to Cointelegraph.
Trueo framed the move to Ethereum as a governance and credibility choice, not a purely technical one. The project wrote: “The final form of Trueo is to be a platform that is widely adopted, broadly integrated, fully permissionless, mostly immutable, and highly credible. Ethereum is the best fit for this combination of properties.” Lumberg, Trueo co-founder, told Cointelegraph: “Ethereum is the best chain for the most credibly neutral and truthful oracle system and prediction markets.”
Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum co-founder, endorsed the move on X. “Glad to see that Ethereum L1 will have a new strong prediction market contender that is dedicated to decentralization, and being ethical and not corposlop, and to actually trying to do interesting and meaningful things with this class of economic primitive,” he wrote.
That language carries weight beyond chain selection. The desk’s read is that Buterin’s endorsement explicitly elevates whether a decentralized application is ethical and sufficiently independent from corporate influence as evaluative criteria — and that Trueo is being positioned for recognition on exactly those terms, with “not corposlop” functioning as part of the project’s public identity rather than any technical specification.
The migration also lands four months after a July 2026 dispute involving Polymarket, when two traders sued over a market resolved as “No” after Strategy confirmed a bitcoin sale, because the filing date controlled the resolution. Trueo’s stated emphasis on due process in dispute resolution places its oracle design directly against that recent history — 131 days to close out Base, and a chain move intended to make the credibility argument harder to dispute.
