Tether’s new Swiss foundation targets scams, trafficking and humanitarian aid

Tether launched the FASE Foundation, a Swiss not-for-profit, to combat scams, support trafficking survivors, and pilot stablecoin-based aid distribution.

On October 28, 2026, Tether announced the Financial Access and Systemic Empowerment (FASE) Foundation — a Swiss not-for-profit built around scam prevention, financial access and humanitarian support. Tether’s announcement lists the founding stakeholders: Anchorage Digital, Bitfury, Bybit, Chainalysis, Fasanara Capital, Kraken, Opera, Pave Bank, Prosper Global, Solana Foundation and Tether itself. Prosper Global is identified there as formerly Mercy Corps. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime joins as a strategic partner providing technical advice.

In Tether’s announcement, Paolo Ardoino, Tether’s CEO, framed it as an extension of existing work: “For too long, the people who most need protection and support have been the ones most neglected by the traditional financial system. FASE is about reaching them. It builds on work Tether is already doing in these communities and brings in partners from across the industry and the United Nations to take it further and faster. Together, we can give these communities the protection, support and access they have long gone without. That is what we are building with FASE.”

The desk’s read: Tether is pairing direct social-impact programs with a more formal channel for regulatory engagement — placing scam prevention, organized crime and cybercrime work inside a structure that includes both industry firms and a UN partner makes the foundation legible to regulators focused on illicit finance in a way that a press release alone wouldn’t be.

FASE’s work is organized into four pillars: Financial Safety, Financial Freedom and Inclusion, Access to Resources, and Responsible AI & Robotics. First up is a global youth alliance with Goodwall, which Tether says aims to reach up to 10 million young people with digital education and scam-prevention tools. A second program would pilot stablecoin-based humanitarian aid distribution: Tether said FASE will work with Prosper Global on a stablecoin humanitarian aid pilot that could reach up to 1 million people. The announcement does not specify the pilot’s timeline, success criteria, or total initial funding committed by the founding stakeholders — details that matter for assessing whether this is operational or still a stated target.

The launch also formalizes a funding record Tether has been building. Tether provided the BTCPay Server Foundation with $100,000 in 2024 and another $100,000 in 2025, totaling $200,000 across those two grants. Tether also donated $250,000 to OpenSats, which funds developers, researchers and educators working on Bitcoin and censorship-resistant technologies. Both figures come from Tether.

What FASE adds to those earlier grants is structure: a named Swiss entity, the 11 founding stakeholders listed by Tether, a UN technical partner, and reach targets attached to specific programs. Whether Tether and Prosper Global publish the aid pilot’s timeline and metrics is the next concrete thing to watch. USDT$0.9993▲0.03% trades near its $1.00 peg, per CoinGecko.
