Ethereum EIPs move to review as delegation standard emerges

The same GitHub commit shows Glamsterdam clearing “Draft” that day — Ethereum’s pending network upgrade moving alongside it, if the commit history is the thing you’re reading.

GitHub’s timeline puts roughly 700 days between the Glamsterdam Hardfork Meta EIP’s creation on Sept. 26, 2024, and its move from Draft to Review on Aug. 27, 2026. That is elapsed time between the two recorded events, not proof that the proposal remained continuously in Draft throughout.

What EIP-8141’s inclusion actually changes in scope, the available documents don’t say. Full technical contents for either proposal aren’t in the record.

ERC-8391 is doing something different. It bills itself an “Execution Delegation Framework,” and the Ethereum Magicians discussion defines a common contract interface for delegating on-chain execution authority to a rotatable operational key — meaning the operational key can be swapped without tearing down and rebuilding the underlying contract. Two execution paths are specified: direct calls throughexecute(), or relayed signature verification through ERC-1271.

What the record can’t establish: whether any named protocols are committing to adopt ERC-8391, what the gas costs look like, or what its deployment prospects are beyond the current discussion phase. Because the framework is still under discussion and no adopting protocol is identified in the supplied record, the documents identify no concrete token-holder, counterparty or deadline exposure.

“Review” isn’t deployment. EIP-7773, EIP-8081, the Glamsterdam meta EIP, ERC-8391 — the supplied records do not show that any of them has been deployed, and that distinction tends to disappear fast when upgrade activity starts generating headlines.
