Aave proposes syrupUSDG markets on X Layer and Arbitrum

Aave proposes adding Maple Finance's syrupUSDG as collateral for stablecoin borrowing on X Layer and Arbitrum, extending an existing listing on Aave V4 Ethereum.

Aave proposes syrupUSDG markets on X Layer and Arbitrum

Two governance filings landed on October 15 proposing to add Maple Finance’s syrupUSDG to Aave V3 on X Layer and Arbitrum. Both were submitted by @TokenLogic — the X Layer proposal and the Arbitrum proposal — and neither names an activation date or deadline. Each would open a dedicated E-Mode where syrupUSDG works only as collateral against stablecoin borrowing, not as a general asset outside those E-Modes.

syrupUSDG is Maple Finance’s non-rebasing ERC-4626 vault token. Depositors send USDG into Maple’s Syrup pool on Ethereum, get syrupUSDG back, and yield accrues through the token’s exchange rate rather than a shifting balance. Maple then lends the pooled USDG to institutional borrowers against overcollateralized loans.

The filings also disclose the pool’s loan composition. As of October 13, BTC$82,296.00▲0.77%-backed loans carried $164.4 million in collateral; ETH$2,447.28▲0.69%-backed loans, issued since mid-September, carried $30.6 million. Together those positions held $105.2 million in principal secured by $195.6 million of collateral — roughly 186% coverage. The pool also held about $40 million in intercompany loans, approximately $35 million of that funding syrupUSDC minting and $5 million funding syrupUSDT. These figures describe Maple’s pool composition. They don’t set Aave’s final risk parameters.

syrupUSDG’s supply has spread across chains quickly. As of October 2026 it had reached 213.3 million tokens: 137.9 million on Robinhood Chain (65%), 51.5 million on Ethereum (24%), and 24 million on Arbitrum (11%). Chainlink CCIP handles the bridging to Robinhood Chain and Arbitrum. Aave already carries syrupUSDG as collateral on Aave V4 Ethereum, so these proposals extend an existing listing rather than introduce something new.

Arbitrum is further along than X Layer. The syrupUSDG contract there went live September 10, 2026, with bridged supply arriving in early October — climbing from below 0.5 million on October 5 to 24 million by October 13. Most of that supply currently sits as collateral on Morpho, which sets up the competitive framing the proposal makes explicit: syrupUSDG’s 30-day APY ran about 4.9%, against Arbitrum borrow rates of 3.64% for USDC$0.9996▼0.02% and 4.31% for USD®0, implying spreads of 1.26 and 0.59 percentage points respectively. Whether those spreads hold depends on final Aave parameters and on both rates staying where they are — the proposal presents the comparison without promising any particular outcome. USDC is Arbitrum’s deepest listed market at $200.9 million supplied. A syrupUSDG/USDG Uniswap v4 pool that had $1 million of liquidity on October 2, 2026 already gives holders a conversion venue before any Aave market opens.

Oracle infrastructure on Arbitrum is in place. Chainlink has live USDG/USD and syrupUSDG/USDG exchange-rate feeds at0xE9Bd4Ca2CDacb56cd06c9C4C5231e69c33340B3c and0x6b1aBf37cFB16deedD27D7C23168e7dF4feD8AFF, and syrupUSDG would be priced through a CAPO adapter.

X Layer doesn’t have that yet. Maple has committed to seed $2 million of syrupUSDG liquidity there, but the filing is explicit: Chainlink must first deliver a syrupUSDG/USDG exchange-rate feed on X Layer before the listing can proceed. A Chainlink USDG/USD feed is already live at0x385C6bDDE06b0E438319bF4ddBfFe51C521ABf3D, and Aave V3 X Layer already runs a capped USDG/USD adapter at0xe00b2732396a1f047d4a00e0165025a9cf400245 with a 1.04 price cap — but the exchange-rate feed for syrupUSDG itself is still outstanding.

On yield history, syrupUSDG has been accruing since June 26, 2026. Over 97 days, daily APY ran a 5.00% mean, 5.01% median, and a 0.39 percentage-point standard deviation, with a trailing 30-day APY in roughly the 4.7%–5.4% range. The proposal offers this as context, not a guarantee of future performance.

Arbitrum holders already sitting in syrupUSDG positions could, if the proposal advances, use those positions to borrow stablecoins on Aave. X Layer’s listing still depends on Chainlink delivering the syrupUSDG/USDG feed; Maple has separately committed to seed $2 million of liquidity, but the timing is not stated. The broader governance context is covered in Aave stewards seek higher caps and new stablecoin rates.
