Aave Labs proposes USDe onboarding on Avalanche V4

Aave Labs has formally proposed onboarding USDe to the Aave V4 Core Instance on Avalanche, according to a September 1 post on the Aave Governance Forum. The move would add another Aave venue for Ethena Labs’ synthetic dollar and extend its collateral footprint to Avalanche.

Aave’s proposal describes its peg mechanism as pairing staked collateral with offsetting perpetual futures positions held largely offchain. Ethena Labs has already extended both USDe and its staked form to Avalanche, while USDe is listed across other Aave instances, per the governance post.

The strongest case for the proposal is access. Onboarding USDe to Aave V4 on Avalanche could give the asset another lending-market venue, while giving Avalanche users a direct path to its liquidity and related yield opportunities. The desk’s read is that this marks a strategic expansion of both protocols’ reach, although the governance document does not quantify expected deposits, borrowing demand or liquidity growth.

The trade-off sits in the risk configuration. Risk Service Providers will provide the risk parameters and final configuration for USDe’s onboarding. Those settings are not included in the facts available with the proposal, so the exposure for USDe suppliers and borrowers cannot yet be measured from loan caps, liquidation thresholds or other numerical limits.

That leaves the governance process as the next hard checkpoint. Community and Service Provider feedback will be gathered first. The Risk Service Providers’ final configuration will then be incorporated into the Aave V4 Core Instance on Avalanche, after which an AIP vote will be published for final confirmation and onchain enforcement. The proposal does not provide a timeline for those steps.

For traders, the immediate watchpoints are the AIP vote, the final risk settings and USDe’s peg behavior once the market is available. Greater Aave access could draw more users and capital to USDe on Avalanche, potentially expanding liquidity and the set of yield opportunities. It could also make the asset’s peg stability more relevant to Aave positions on that chain. The proposal itself offers no forecast for either outcome.

Aave Labs also discloses that it has no direct financial relationship with Ethena Labs or its affiliates and has received no compensation connected with the proposal. For related coverage of Aave governance proposals, see Aave stewards seek higher caps and new stablecoin rates.
