Ethereum Magicians weighs ePBS, vault consent checks
Ethereum Magicians discussed an updated ePBS document and a draft ERC-4626 extension for vault consent checks, with ACDC #186 scheduled for September 3, 2026.
Two concrete documents landed for Ethereum’s next round of protocol discussions. The first is an updated overview of Enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation; the second is a draft consent mechanism for ERC-4626 vaults. The “ePBS, distilled” document, authored by mike, revisits ePBS ahead of EIP-7732’s scheduled inclusion as a headlining EIP in the Glamsterdam hardfork.
“Enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation (abbr. ePBS) is complicated; it was already complicated three years ago,” mike wrote on ethresear.ch. The document notes much has changed since then and presents ePBS in its current form, covering key features and conjectured behaviors.
All Core Devs Consensus (ACDC) #186 is scheduled for Thursday, September 03, 2026, at 14:00 UTC, running 90 minutes, according to the Ethereum Magicians meeting post.
Mike’s document situates the proposed change against current block-building reality: MEV-boost is used to build about 90% of Ethereum blocks today. Using the document’s figures, 512 is 1.7% of 30,000 (512 ÷ 30,000), or about one member for every 59 on a full attestation committee.
The second proposal targets application-layer controls. Maulana Asykari Muhammad (@WeissCurry), Muhammad Zidan Fatonie (@mzf11125), and Faisal Firdani (@zexoverz) proposed ERC-XXXX, “Consent Verification Extension for ERC-4626 Tokenized Vaults”, currently marked “Draft.”
“This ERC proposes an optional extension interface for ERC-4626 Tokenized Vaults that enables vaults to verify user acknowledgement of specific agreements before accepting new deposits or mint operations,” the authors wrote on Ethereum Magicians. The core addition is a standardized Consent Registry interface.
For vaults that adopt the extension, consent verification is required beforedeposit() andmint() operations. In our view, that distinction matters for integrators: the stated control applies to entering a vault position, while both listed exit paths remain outside the restriction.
“Draft” stays the operative status until those details are settled.
EETH$2,483.15▼0.26% was trading at $2,500.41, up 2.1% over the last 24 hours, according to CoinGecko — context for where the asset sits as these proposals circulate, not evidence of a protocol effect.
